As one enters WANG'S II, the eye falls on the aquarium. The fish swim around the submerged objects in front of an underwater-reef backdrop; the bubbles of air rise to the top; and the gurgling sound of the aerators contributes to the immediate feeling of relaxation that the patron experiences upon entering the dining area.
The aquatic ambience continues with the pastel-teal hues of the walls and seats, making the serene atmosphere seem itself to represent an underwater setting. The lines are curved; the booths are intimate; the lights are soft; and the music completes the setting. On the landing, the booths and the railing follow the curve of the wall, and above each booth hangs an architectural piece. These frame pieces replicate castle artifacts and suggest handles from parts of furniture that represent different animals, such as lions, which deter evil spirits. The glass blocks separating the raised booth area and the floor level complete the feeling that one has entered an underwater scene where the soft lights and elegant music allow those dining to leave the harsh elements outside.
On the west wall hangs the personification of the Eight Good Fairies popular in Chinese folk tales. In a boat piloted by “Prosperity”, the other gods and goddesses represent the best traits to be sought in one’s life, such as health, music, longevity, wisdom, and youthfulness. This large piece overlooks the interior of WANG'S II and reveals truths in a setting of playfulness and jollity.
You might order a smooth Oolong tea while perusing the menu. The WANG'S II Signature Dishes represent those selections which consistently receive confirmation that they are unlike any available elsewhere.
Some of these include:
- Crispy Chicken Breast with Citrus Lemon Sauce
- Wok-Seared Tenderloin with Mushroom & Spinach
- Stir-fried Chicken with Spicy Capsicum
- Crispy Boneless Duck with Vegetables in Special Sauce
The Chef’s Specialties offer many choices that would allow groups to share selections such as Ginger Scallion Shrimp in Black Bean Sauce, Dragon & Phoenix Hunan Style, Double-Delight Shrimp, and Walnut Chicken.
Manager David Lu has settled the dispute regarding which type of restaurant to select by explaining, “ We offer excellent Teriyaki dishes with chicken, beef, shrimp, or salmon for those individuals in the group who would prefer a Japanese meal. This allows everyone to be indulged in his or her choice.”
At WANG'S II, the finest dining available is served for much less than might be expected. Choices for lunch range between $5.25 and $5.95 and between $7.95 and $14.95 for dinner. The Soups and Appetizers will start your lunch or dinner experience with flavor and substance, and the “Hot and Spicy” dishes can be modified to suit your taste.
